Microsoft software scanner software gets a new release
Microsoft has released a new software scanner that scans the operating system for hidden malware.
The company says it’s used in “millions” of PCs worldwide.
The software scan, called the VirusScan, is the company’s answer to a question Microsoft posed in an April blog post about the threat posed by malware.
It’s the first version of the software to be released in more than a year, but Microsoft is still working on a second version that will contain “enhanced detection, remediation, and remediation tools for malware,” according to a Microsoft blog post.
Microsoft’s product page states the company is working with the FBI to help law enforcement detect and remove malicious code.
The product page is also available on the Microsoft website.
The software scans the Windows operating system, so it can detect hidden malicious code that could potentially be used to install a malware payload.
Microsoft has not announced when or where the software will be available for download.
